Victim Jeremiah Allen left hospital, is arrested
Staff report
WARREN
Jeremiah Allen, 18, of Warren suffered critical injuries from being shot in the back Feb. 15, but was arrested late Sunday after leaving the hospital and being found in a car with a loaded gun.
Police were alerted to look for Allen by a caller saying the teen had decided to seek revenge on the person or persons who had shot him.
Allen, of Taylor Street Northwest, pleaded innocent Tuesday in Warren Municipal Court to felony charges of carrying a concealed weapon and receiving stolen property and two misdemeanor counts of aggravated menacing.
A judge ordered Allen to be held in the Trumbull County Jail without eligibility to make bond until his next hearing Tuesday, because he also is charged with a probation violation stemming from two domestic-violence convictions.
Police first were alerted that Allen had contacted the mother of his child and threatened to kill her and her father. The call about Allen seeking revenge was received shortly after that, police said.
Officers later stopped a car in a driveway on Summit Street and found Allen in the back seat. A loaded handgun was found on the floor near where he was sitting, police said. The gun had been reported stolen from Howland.
Allen’s probation viola-tion stemmed from two misdemeanor domestic-violence convictions he had from April and May of 2011.
Allen was treated at ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital and St. Elizabeth Health Center for the gunshot wound, which he suffered at 12:35 a.m. Feb. 15 at the intersection of Feederle Drive and Hazelwood Avenue.
He left St. Elizabeth’s on Sunday against medical advice, police said they were told.
