An Ohio woman and her husband were each sentenced Tuesday to 12 years in prison following their conviction in the drowning of the woman’s 3-year-old son and disappearance of his 2-year-old brother during a camping trip.

Kasey Klein, 25, and her 38-year-old husband, Richard Klein Jr., both of Zanesville, were each found guilty Feb. 2 in Muskingum County Common Pleas Court of two counts of involuntary manslaughter. They were sentenced to six years on each count to run consecutively. Assistant Prosecutor Bob Smith said.

Ayden Cecil and his half brother, Anthony Tullius, wandered away from the family campsite near the Muskingum River at Ellis Dam early June 4, authorities said. Ayden’s body was found a few hours later in the water about a mile below the dam.

Authorities said the Kleins called 911 when they awoke to discover the boys missing. Emergency crews found Ayden’s body in the rain-swollen river about two hours later, about a mile south of the family’s campsite.

Crews searched for the younger boy for more than a week with cadaver dogs.
