Dog found shot to death on East Side

Staff report

Youngstown

A necropsy revealed no bite marks and no bullet fragments in the dog found dead Tuesday on the city’s East Side with a single gunshot wound.

Talia Musolino of Animal Charity said the dog was found next to the ESA Apartments at 1100 Kendis Circle.

Musolino said authorities believe the dog was shot elsewhere and moved to the scene because the dog was wrapped in plastic, and there was not an amount of blood on scene that would equate to the location of the wound.

The bullet entered from the left side of the dog’s chest and exited through the right.

Besides the fatal gunshot, she said there were no marks on the dog showing signs of abuse.

She said Youngstown police crime lab came to the scene and took photos.

Right now, Musolino said police and Animal Charity don’t think there is any connection with the other recent dog-abuse cases, which have been concentrated mostly on the West Side.
