Trucker cited in 711 ramp accident that closed I-680

YOUNGSTOWN — A 57-year-old trucker has been cited in the Feb. 14 accident along Interstate 680 that resulted in the closing down of the freeway, spilling of fuel into local waterways and the evacuation of a nearby neighborhood.

Wesley Gilbert, 57, of Mentor on the Lake, has been cited for failure to maintain control. He is set to appear March 5 in Youngstown Municipal Court.

Gilbert told police he was entering the 711 ramp from Interstate 680 after picking up a load of fuel when he tapped the brakes on the truck and lost control. The truck overturned spilling thousands of gallons of fuel.
