OSHP troopers seize 100 pounds of marijuana from semi truck

MAUMEE, Ohio — A truck driver and his passenger face felony drug charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized 100 pounds of hydroponic marijuana, worth an estimated $500,000, after a traffic stop on the Ohio Turnpike.

According to a state patrol press releases, troopers stopped a 2001 Freightliner Commercial Semi Tractor, pulling a Wabash Box Trailer, both with California registration, for a marked-lanes violation on the turnpike in Lucas County shortly before 11 a.m. Monday.

Criminal indicators were observed and a consent search revealed nine large boxes of hydroponic marijuana located in the middle of the trailer, co-mingled with the legitimate load.

The driver, Ming Song Sun, 38, of Oakland, Calif., and the passenger, Jimmy Yat Man Lau, 38, of Alameda, Calif., were both charged with possession of marijuana and trafficking in marijuana, both second-degree felonies.
