SHENANGO, PA

Township police filed an arrest warrant for a 48-year-old New Castle, Pa., man suspected of repeatedly raping a 43-year-old woman Saturday and Sunday.

Police said the woman was tied up and raped by Douglas J. Pennachio at a home on Old Butler Road. Pennachio lives on Old Butler Road, but police didn’t say if that’s the scene of the alleged crimes. The woman managed to free herself and flee the residence early Sunday, police said.

She received treatment for numerous injuries at Jameson Hospital.

The warrant for Pennachio charges him with rape, forcible compulsion, indecent sexual intercourse, sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, unlawful restraint, false imprisonment and aggravated assault.

Man killed in crash

COOLSPRING, PA

A 58-year-old Mercer County man died in a one-car accident in Coolspring, Pa.

State police say Howard Lee Reeher of Fredonia, Pa., was driving northbound on U.S. Route 19, near the U.S. Route 62 intersection, when he lost control about 2 p.m. Saturday. The vehicle went off the east side of the road, hit an embankment and became airborne. The 1995 Chevrolet Surburban rolled over, and Reeher, who wasn’t wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the SUV, police said.

Indecent assault

New castle, PA

A 31-year-old New Castle man faces charges of indecent assault of a person less than 13 years of age, unlawful contact with a minor and corruption of minors after Shenango Township police say he inappropriately touched a 10-year-old girl at the Lawrence Village Plaza.

Scott C. Walker, of South Croton Avenue, is accused of the indecent assault about 1:30 p.m. Monday. Police say he made inappropriate comments to the girl about her behind and then grabbed it three times. The girl told her mother, and after calling police, Walker was arrested. He was arraigned Saturday and placed on $25,000 bond.

Walker is on probation for similar offenses, police said.
