Woman escapes sexual assault; New Castle man charged

SHENANGO, Pa

Township police filed an arrest warrant for a 48-year-old New Castle, Pa., man suspected of repeatedly raping a 43-year-old woman Saturday and today.

Police said the woman was tied up and raped by Douglas J. Pennachio at a home on Old Butler Road. Pennachio lives on Old Butler Road, but police didn’t say if that’s the scene of the alleged crimes. The woman managed to free herself and flee the residence early today, police said.

She received treatment for numerous injuries at Jameson Hospital.

The warrant for Pennachio charges him with rape, forcible compulsion, indecent sexual intercourse, sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, unlawful restraint, false imprisonment and aggravated assault.
