POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Liberty and Girard:

LIBERTY

Feb. 9

Arrest: Police in the 4700 block of Fifth Avenue picked up 43-year-old Perry Courtney of Conneaut, who was wanted on two felony warrants from Ashtabula County.

Weapon/child endangerment: Authorities arrested John E. Lord, 36, near Colonial Drive on charges of endangering children, failure to comply with police and carrying a concealed weapon. Lord, of 115 Park Ave., New Castle, Pa., placed his two children age 3 and 5 in danger as he tried to elude police, and had a straight-edged knife, a report said. Lord also was wanted on an outstanding felony warrant from the township.

Arrests: Suspicious activity near a township towing yard caught the attention of police, who arrested three people in the area wanted on warrants. Taken into custody were Justin A. Zimmerly, 25, of 6466 E. South Range Road, Petersburg, on charges of drug possession and burglary; Shawn L. Paulin, 32, of 410 Benton Road, Salem, on drug charges; and Melissa S. Mills, 27, also of 410 Benton, on one count of possession of drug-abuse instruments.

Truck theft: Two trucks were stolen from Cleveland Auto Wrecking, 2700 Youngstown-Hubbard Road.

Arrest: A traffic stop near Gypsy Lane led to 20-year-old Latisha Henderson’s arrest on a probation-violation charge. Henderson, of 3620 Southern Blvd., Youngstown, also was charged with obstructing official business when, police said, she provided a false Social Security number.

Feb. 10

Theft: A Belmont Avenue man reported the theft of a .20-gauge rifle.

Domestic violence: Police charged Karen J. Peters, 49, and Eugene K. Peters, 52, both of 58 Warner Road, Hubbard, with the crime. Mrs. Peters admitted that during an argument, she pulled a handgun, in which police found five rounds of ammunition, and threatened to shoot him; she also alleged that he tried to prevent her from leaving, a report said.

Theft: A Fowler man rented but failed to return a truck to Penske Truck Rental, 5925 Belmont Ave.

Feb. 11

Arrest: Police answered a disturbance call at a Belmont Avenue restaurant, where they arrested Ariel S. Daniel, 19, of 1134 Verona Ave., Youngstown, on an outstanding warrant accusing her of failing to appear in court on a theft charge.

Drugs: A traffic stop near Mount Everett Road resulted in a citation against 18-year-old Craig V. Hughes, 1380 Mount Vernon, Hubbard, charging him with marijuana possession. Hughes admitted having a bag of suspected marijuana in his car, a report showed.

Theft: A Youngstown woman who rented a room at an East Liberty Street motel reportedly stole two blankets from the bed.

Feb. 12

Damage: A vehicle at a Goldie Road store was found with a cracked windshield. Damage was estimated at $250.

Arrest: Police responded to a combative person on Goldie Road, then took into custody 26-year-old Scott C. Harker, 5616 Youngstown-Warren Road, Niles, on a felony probation-violation charge.

Theft: Two gold rings were removed from a vehicle in the 6400 block of Klines Drive, resulting in a $2,400 loss.

Breaking and entering: Someone broke into a home in the 5600 block of Lamplighter Drive through a rear sliding-glass door and stole a $600 computer.

Feb. 13

Theft/criminal damaging: James E. Ritter, 52, of 25 Market St., Youngstown, faced charges of theft and criminal damaging after $131 worth of merchandise had been stolen from Giant Eagle, 4700 Belmont Ave. Ritter then led police on a foot chase through a nearby wooded area, resulting in damage to an officer’s uniform.

Feb. 14

Identity theft: An elderly Belmar Avenue woman reported credit-card fraud in which she lost about $20,000.

Theft: A worker for WRP Investments Inc., 4077 Belmont Ave., told police that an internal audit revealed unauthorized payments from business accounts totaling about $1,850.

Theft: Fifty pieces of aluminum trim were stolen from the dance-floor area at a Motor Inn Drive motel. The theft came to $5,000.

Feb. 15

Assault: A 12-year-old Campbell girl alleged a Holly Drive woman slapped her face during an argument related to a cellphone.

GIRARD

Feb. 11

Harassment: A Shannon Road woman reported getting such calls.

Menacing: A Joan Avenue woman said her husband has been harassing the accuser and her parents via unwanted calls.

Feb. 12

Criminal damaging: Four-wheel vehicles damaged a yard in the 1600 block of Oak Street.

Feb. 13

Identity fraud: A Park Avenue woman alleged her former boyfriend used her personal information to open two credit-card accounts.

Menacing: A Maple Avenue woman said her former husband threatened to kick in a door to her residence to get his son.

Harassment: An East Prospect Street woman said she’s received 20 to 25 unwanted calls.

Trespassing: Someone entered a shed in the 1000 block of North Ward Avenue, though it seemed nothing was missing.

Breaking and entering: A garage in the 100 block of Gary Avenue was broken into.

Burglary: To an apartment in the 500 block of Stull Avenue, from which an entertainment stand, a jar of change and a set of keys were taken.

Assault: A Church Hill Road woman reported another woman punched and grabbed her hair. The accuser had what appeared to be a swollen left eye.

Arrest: Jaymelyn Williams, 22, of 711 N. St. Clair Ave., Girard, was arrested near Powers Way on a warrant.

Feb. 14

Menacing: A Forsythe Avenue woman reported another woman threatened to kill her.

Menacing: A man told officers he had been threatened while at a West Main Street eatery.
