Ambassadors for Christ, a group of churches on the East Side that organized in 2000, will sponsor its 13th annual Lenten ecumenical services and speakers from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays. The schedule is: Ash Wednesday, the Rev. Roney Tucket at St. Stephen of Hungary Catholic Church, 854 Wilson Ave., with distribution of ashes; Feb. 29: the Rev. George Wilkins at We Walk by Faith Bible Church, 1636 Himrod Ave.; March 7: the Rev. George Moore at Mount Sinai Baptist Church, 328 S.Forest Ave.; March 14: the Rev. Joseph Rudjak at Mount Zion Baptist Church, 827 Wilson Ave.; March 21: guest speaker to be announced at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 421 Covington St.; March 28: the Rev. Jack Pettis at St. James Church of God in Christ, 75 S. Prospect Ave.
Mardi Gras worship

The Celebration Band will provide Dixieland-style music for the annual Mardi Gras worship service at 10 a.m. Sunday at Howland Community Church, 198 Niles Cortland Road SE. The pastor is the Rev. Dr. Brian Byrne and music director, Alan Purdum.

Living Word Sanctuary, which has services at 10:30 a.m. Sundays and 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays at the YWCA, 375 N. Park Ave., will have a radio broadcast at 9 a.m. Sundays on WHKZ 1440 AM. Nick DeJacimo and Mark Cohen are pastors.
Organ dedication

Grace Lutheran Church, 162 S. Raccoon Road, will dedicate its pipe organ at 4 p.m. Sunday. Grace Lutheran bought the pipe organ from a church in Brecksville. It was installed by members and Victor Organ Co. in time for the Christmas Eve service in 2011. It will be dedicated in memory of Jacob Culp, an infant, and Richard Kieffer, a longtime member and choir member, who died last year.Organist John Smiley and Gary Richards will play and lead hymn singing; the choir will perform. A reception will follow.
Dinner, discussion

Tim Tebow, Denver Broncos quarterback, is known for kneeling in prayer on the football field during games. Does a person’s public display of religious behavior really mean that person is a devout believer? What are the positive and negative effects? These questions will be the basis for a dinner and discussion Sunday at First Presbyterian Church of Girard, 890 Churchill Road. The supper is at 5 p.m. and discussion at 6. Visitors are expected and welcome at both.

Beyond the Ashes, a Christian band from Nashville, will present a free concert at 6 p.m. Friday at Rogers Assembly of God, 8251 Sprucevale Road. The group was Breakthrough Artist of the Year in 2011. Their new release is “Treasures Unseen.” Also playing will be Glorybound of Negley. An offering will be taken.

The Roberts Wesleyan Ensemble of Roberts Wesleyan Church in Rochester, N.Y., will perform a free concert at 7 p.m. Monday at Free Methodist Community Church, 9900 Youngstown-Pittsburgh Road. Director is Dr. Paul Shewan.

Youngstown Chapter of Igniting New Life Ministries International, an inter-denominational ministry, will meet Monday at Georgeanna Parker Activity Center in Boardman Park.Guest speakesr will be apostle Derrick and his wife prophetess Carol Scott, who pastor Alpha & Omega Ministries in Warren.
He wrote “Time to Change Your Oil,” and she is a national recording artist.
Fellowship will begin at 6 p.m. with the ministry at 6:30.
Second Chance

Rachell Joy will be the featured artist at Second Chance Community Outreach Ministry, 1747 S. Raccoon Road, Suite 1, today.
The program will start at 5 p.m. when the monthly free hot meal is served to the community. Music will begin at 6.
The nonprofit ministry provides a food pantry and monthly food distribution service to the community and a clothing cupboard.
A free hot meal, sponsored by Upper Room Ministries on New Road, is served from 2 to 4 p.m. the fourth Wednesday of every month.
Second Chance is also launching a free meal-delivery program to area shut-ins, disabled and elderly residents.
