The Weathersfield school board has approved billing colleges and universities whose students do internships or student teaching in the district.
The funds received will be used for classroom supplies or expenses related to the classroom.
The district will see $240 from two separate student teachers this school year, school Superintendent Damon Dohar said Wednesday.
The amount is set at $12 for every week there is a student teacher in the district. This school year, the district had student teachers 20 weeks, one for eight weeks and anther for 12 weeks.
Previously, colleges or universities would provide a stipend or a coupon as payment, but the Ohio Ethics commission ruled against that practice, so now districts are to be paid.
In other business at the board’s meeting, the 2012-13 school calendar was approved, with the first day of school for students to be Monday, Aug. 27, and the last day to be Thursday, May 31.
Dohar told the board students are now preparing for the Ohio Graduation Test at the high school, which will take place in March, and the Ohio Achievement Assessment for grades three to eight, for testing the last week of April or the first week of May.
