SJIHM students qualify for district science fair

Neighbors | Submitted.Sixth-grade winners of the science fair will move on to the Districts Fair at Youngstown State University on March 31.

Students from St. Joseph and Immaculate Heart of Mary earned several awards after competing in the 2012 Science Fair.

Overall, six sixth-graders were awarded Honorable Mentions for their work in the science fair. That group included Danielle Fedak, Ryan Kopcial, Lilly Campbell, Colin Faloon, Ben Jessop and Alexis Tetlow.

Thirteen sixth-grade students were awarded Superior ratings, including Nick Jessop, Jack Chepke, Ashley Saxton, Joey Jadue, Mitchell Desiato, Connor McIntosh, Katelynne McHugh, Andrew Siembieda, Brandon Freer, Jon Marshall, Katrina Neff, Joey Virgalitto and Daniel McCarthy.

For the eighth-graders, five students earned Honorable Mentions, including Michael Chizmar, Rachel Strollo, Cassie Murphy, Tyler Saxton and Stephanie Virgalitto. Eighth-graders earning Superior ratings were Kathryn McCarthy, Kaelyn Puhalla, Victoria Thomas, Dante Rossi, Dominic Mashiska, Christopher Metzinger, Shelby Lukas and Prajit Khooblall.

All these students will advance to compete in the District Science Fair at Youngstown State University on March 31.
