Pee Wee Phantoms salvage tie out of three contests

The Youngstown Pee Wee Phantoms played three games in two days last weekend, losing two, but salvaging a tie on Sunday.
In game on Saturday morning, Youngstown faced the South Hills Panthers without its starting goalie, who was sick.
Defenseman Justin Long filled in admirably, but the Phantoms couldn’t thwart the Panthers’ offensive attack.
Scoring for the Phantoms were Devin Whitaker (Boardman) with three goals and Justin Lewis (Poland) getting one goal.
Assisting on the goals were Maguire Franko (Poland), Dominic Joseph (Canfield), Bo Gray (Boardman) and Nick Frantz.
On Sunday, Youngstown played the Altoona Trackers, the league’s top team. Altoona scored two goals in the first and one in the second period en route to a 3-1 victory.
The Phantoms lone goal came at 4:11 of the third period on an unassisted goal by Whitaker. Goalie Colin Frost faced 30 shots on goal.
Two hours later, the Phantoms took to the ice again, this time against the Geauga Mapleleafs, a squad who had beaten Youngstown 5-2 earlier this season.
This time, a tired, but determined, Phantoms team earned a 1-1 tie. Domenic Joseph scored for the Phantoms, assisted by Danny Beistel (Canfield).
