Ohio plant shooting victim sues security company

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — An employee wounded in 2005 shootings at a Toledo Jeep assembly plant has filed a lawsuit with his wife against the plant’s security company and the gunman’s estate.

The suit seeks damages starting at $500,000 for injuries, medical costs, emotional damage and other losses. The suit says Paul Medlen has undergone multiple surgeries, has permanent scarring and still has bullet-pellet fragments in his body from the Jan. 26, 2005, shootings by Myles Meyers. It accuses the plant’s security firm of negligence.

Meyers, a recently disciplined Chrysler employee, slipped into the plant with a shotgun. He killed one man and wounded two before killing himself.

The suit in Lucas County Common Pleas Court is a new version of an earlier lawsuit.
