At Dobbins Elementary, the kindergarten students are lovingly referred to as the “bear cubs” of the school. On Feb. 8, the little bear cubs were caught roaring as they celebrated their 100th day of school.

In Stephanie Meteja’s kindergarten classroom, her students were up and moving on the exciting day. The kids completed a 100 days march and were stomping and jumping around their room and counting each of their steps.

Throughout the day, the students did plenty of counting in music, stories and charts. The students wore hats that displayed their happy celebration.

“My students have matured so much since we began school in September, and today is a huge stepping stone for them,” said Meteja.

The bear cubs of Elaine Fabrizi’s classroom also had fun with activities and counting exercises. Fabrizi said she also appreciates how different her students have become.

“The kids are so responsible. We have so many systems for doing things and they have no problem telling me when I forget something. They’re resourceful and they’ve become great at figuring things out for themselves,” Fabrizi said.
