Canfield defeats Nordonia

On senior night, the Canfield Cardinals exploded for seven goals, led by seniors Ryan Ohara with three, Scott Schilling with two and Roger Geiser with one as the Cardinals skated to a 7-0 victory over Nordonia at the Ice Zone.

Braden Falkingham added a goal with three assists. Britanny Bettile picked up two helpers. Tim Fernstrom, Adam Scheetz, Ohara, Sean Meditz and Nick Crescimanno all had an one assist each.

Megan Cole stopped all five shots she faced for the win in the net.

Canfield junior golf open house set

Canfield5678golf will host an open house on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to promote golf in Canfield using the simulator at Diamondback. It’s open to kids and adults.

A free 15-minute lesson will be offered to anybody who signs up. There will also be swing clinics, a long drive contest and closest to pin contests on the par 3 simulator. Cash and prizes will be awarded to the winners.

Canfield5678golf is a junior golf program that hosts clinics for kinds on Sundays from 3 to 5 p.m. and Tuesdays from 4:30 to 6 p.m.

Mooney scholarship dinner is March 4

The Cardinal Mooney High School’s Athletic Hall of Fame Ron Stoops Scholarship Dinner will be at Mr. Anthony’s in Boardman on March 4. Buffet dinner and open bar are scheduled between 6 and 8 p.m. and the induction ceremony will start promptly at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $65 or $520 (table of 8). Proceeds will benefit the Ron Stoops Scholarship Fund. For reservations, call 330-788-5007.

Golf event set for this summer

The annual Pink Ribbon Gold Classic will be held at Tippecanoe Country Club on July 16.

All proceeds from this event will go directly to the American Cancer Society.

The Pink Ribbon committee will also sponsor a bus trip this spring to a local casino. Watch for further details on both of these events.

Baseball club accepting registrations

The Canfield Baseball Club is accepting registrations for the 2012 softball and baseball season for players ages 5-14. Registration is online only at www.canfieldbaseball.com.

A $25 late fee will be charged for those registering Feb. 15 and later. Late registration ends Feb. 29. After Feb. 29, a waiting list will be assembled.

Last year more than 600 players played on 52 teams in the Canfield Baseball Club.
