Canfield High School’s Canfield Choirs performed songs from the musical Brigadoon during its dinner theatre on Jan. 28 at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in the CHS auditorium.

The play is about a small town in Scotland that only appears every 100 years. The story centers around a tourist in love with a girl from that town. The tourists appear just before a wedding ceremony, complicating things for the residents in that town.

Directed by choir teacher Kelly Scurich, the show starred Mackenzie Blaney as Fiona MacLauren, a village girl who falls in love with New York tourist Tommy Albright (Spencer Saylor). Sophomore Richie Jenkins was narrator Mr. Lundi.

“I’m glad that I was part of such a great show,” said junior Maria Kenner, who played a vendor in the show. “I think both the performances were really great.”

Nearly 300 tickets were sold for both shows, making it a successful dinner theatre for Canfield choirs.

“It’s really a staple in the musical theatre world. It’s a neat show with great music,” said Scurich. “I was extremely pleased. It was challenging music and they met the challenge.”

She added that she has high expectations for her students for the rest of the year’s upcoming concerts.
