Beshara named YSU police chief

YOUNGSTOWN

A Mahoning County Sheriff’s captain has been named the Youngstown State University police chief.

John Beshara, a 24-year law enforcement veteran, replaced Jack Gocala, who retired Jan. 31 after 20 years in the position.

The YSU police department employs 22 full-time and 140 part-time commissioned officers.
