Aurora ousts Canfield hockey team; Meditz honored

The Canfield High hockey team mustered only 11 shots in Wednesday’s 4-0 tournament loss against Aurora at the OHSAA sectional at Kent State.

Canfield ends the season at 5-21.

Seniors Sean Meditz (Blue Division Honorable Mention) and Roger Gesier (Blue East second team) were named to the Greater Cleveland High School Hockey League all-star teams. Gesier made 2,407 saves in his career, a state record. This season, he saved 91 percent of shots he faced with a goals against average of 3.96.

Meditz set the school record for most games played in a career at 99.

The league also announced that the Cards will be a part of the Blue Central (East) Division with Twinsburg, Nordonia, Brush and West Geauga for the 2012-13 campaign.
