Woman injured in Tuesday's crash near YSU remains critical


YOUNGSTOWN

A 45-year-old city woman remained in critical condition Wednesday after a car crash near the Youngstown State University campus.

Susan Welsh was injured when she was a passenger in a car driven by her mother, Elaine Welsh, 79, of Youngstown, reports state. Welsh’s car was westbound on Rayen Avenue and was hit about 3 p.m. Tuesday by a car driven by YSU student Samantha Yoder, 21, of Alliance, who was heading southbound on Fifth Avenue.

The mother and daughter were taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center and police said Elaine Welsh is in stable condition. Detectives said charges are pending.
