UPMC receives accreditation

FARRELL/GREENVILLE, PA.

UPMC Horizon’s cancer program received a three-year accreditation with commendation from the Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons (ACoS) following an onsite evaluation by a physician surveyor.

The accreditation is given to facilities that voluntarily commit to providing the highest level of cancer care and that undergo an evaluation process every three years.

Receiving care at a CoC-accredited cancer program ensures that patients have access to comprehensive care, a multi-specialty team, information about clinical trials and new treatment options, and cancer-related information; and a cancer registry that collects data on type and stage of cancers and treatment results.
