Trumbull panel hearings to target CDBG issues

The Trumbull County Planning Commission will have a public hearing at noon Tuesday in the Trumbull County Commissioners meeting room on the fifth floor of the county Administration Building, 160 High Street NW, regarding its application for Community Development Block Grant money.

CDBG provides the money for a broad range of activities, including economic development, demolitions, street improvements, water, sanitary-sewer and storm-drainage improvements and related activities.

Trumbull County is eligible to apply for about $496,000.

The planning commission will also have a public hearing at noon Feb. 29 in the same hearing room for the CDBG Community Housing Improvement Program for 2012.

Trumbull County is eligible for about $250,000 and is proposing the following projects:

$86,000 for rehabilitation of two homes;

$110,000 for home repairs for about 15 income- qualified homes;

$24,000 for emergency monthly housing assistance; and

$30,000 for fair-housing program and administration costs.
