Suspect in several shootings shot, in critical condition

YOUNGSTOWN

An East Florida Avenue man the police chief says is a “person of interest” in a number of shootings, including the Jan. 28 murder of a 17-year-old boy, is hospitalized in critical condition with a gunshot wound to his head.

Police say Lamont McQueen, 20, of West Lucius Avenue in Youngstown, admitted he shot Cedrick Robinson, 19, in the head after the two “were tussling” at McQueen’s South Side home. The shooting occurred around 3:20 p.m. today in McQueen’s driveway, police said.

McQueen is to appear Thursday in Youngstown Municipal Court on a charge of felonious assault. He was taken today to the Mahoning County jail.

Robinson is a “person of interest” in Jan. 28 murder of Carlos Crues Jr., 17, who was gunned down at a party on the city’s East Side, said Police Chief Rod Foley.
