Obama touts manufacturing at Wisconsin plant

MILWAUKEE (AP) — President Barack Obama is calling for tax cuts for American manufacturers and higher taxes for companies that move overseas as he promotes homegrown manufacturing as a key component of an economic revival.

Speaking at a Milwaukee padlock plant that has brought jobs back to the U.S., Obama said the way to create new American jobs and boost manufacturing is to make it more attractive for businesses to grow in the U.S.

The president said the place to start is the tax code, and he called on Congress to make needed reforms right away.

Obama’s comments today at Master Lock came as he headed out for a three-day fundraising spree in California and Washington state.
