BUFFALO, N.Y.

Ilya Kovalchuk had three goals and an assist, and Martin Brodeur stopped 29 shots leading New Jersey. Petr Sykora broke a 1-1 tie 1:44 into the third period, and the Devils extended their road winning streak to five -- their best stretch since winning five straight last February. Jason Pominville scored his 21st goal of the season for Buffalo.

Henrik Lundqvist made 42 saves for his NHL-leading seventh shutout of the season, nfor the Rangers’ fourth straight victory. New York leads the East by nine points over the second-place Bruins and remains one point behind Detroit for the most in the NHL. Ryan Callahan scored for the sixth time in four games, and Ryan McDonagh and Artem Anisimov also had goals for the Rangers. It was Lundqvist’s 42nd career shutout, and he got help from teammates who blocked 22 shots.

Blue Jackets 2, Blues 1

COLUMBUS

Derek Dorsett’s third-period goal lifted the Blue Jackets. A potential tying goal by St. Louis with 1.8 seconds left in regulation was disallowed. A scrum in the final seconds resulted in a pileup in the crease. Video replays showed the Blues’ David Perron falling on top of a prone Blue Jackets goalie Steve Mason, and then shoving the puck into the net. After a lengthy review, the goal was disallowed. Mason had 31 saves and James Wisniewski scored a power-play goal with 0.1 seconds left in the first period for Columbus. David Backes picked up his 17th goal for the Blues, who had a four-game win streak snapped.

Senators 4, Lightning 0

TAMPA, FLA.

Jason Spezza had three goals and an assist, Craig Anderson made 28 saves. Spezza made it 2-0 during a power play at 16:32 of the second. The center extended the lead to 3-0 on an in-close goal with 7:23 left in the third, and then completed the hat trick on an empty-net goal. It was Spezza’s fourth career three-goal game. Erik Karlsson added a goal and an assist for Ottawa.

Red Wings 3, Stars 1

DETROIT

The Detroit Red Wings won an NHL-record 21st straight home game. Henrik Zetterberg and Brad Stuart scored midway through the first period for the Red Wings, who broke the mark of 20 set by the Boston Bruins during the 1929-30 season, and matched by the Philadelphia Flyers in 1976. Fans at Joe Louis Arena gave the team a standing ovation in the final minute and were chanting: “21! 21!” After the game, the Red Wings raised their sticks to acknowledge the cheering fans.

Islanders 3, Jets 1

WINNIPEG, MANITOBA

Chris Thorburn scored the first goal of the game for Winnipeg with an assist to Jim Slater. But the Islanders scored the next three unanswered. Matt Moulson, Matt Martin and P.A. Parenteau netted a goal for New York.

Ducks 2, Wild 1

ST. PAUL, MINN.

Corey Perry scored the winning goal at 12:21 of the third period, Jonas Hiller stopped 17 shots for Anaheim. Minnesota led 1-0 after two periods, but Niklas Hagman tied it at 8:17 of the third and Perry swooped in to beat Josh Harding and give Anaheim the lead for good. Dany Heatley scored his team-leading 19th goal, but the Wild couldn’t generate much offense the rest of the game. Minnesota has scored just seven goals in its last six games and is 5-16-5 since Dec. 13.

Predators 3, Blackhawks 2

NASHVILLE, TENN.

Ryan Ellis scored the go-ahead goal in the third period and added an assist for Nashville. With the loss, the Blackhawks’ winless streak hit nine games. Ryan Suter and Nick Spaling also scored for the Predators. Bryan Bickell and Marian Hossa scored for Chicago.
