Beach Boys, Radiohead to play Bonnaroo

NASHVILLE, Tenn.

The reunited Beach Boys will celebrate sunshine and summer at the 2012 Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival with Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Phish and Bon Iver.

The always eclectic four-day festival also will include Skrillex, Foster the People, The Avett Brothers, The Shins, The Roots and Alice Cooper on the 700-acre farm in Manchester, Tenn. Bonnaroo will take place June 7-10.

The lineup has something of a ripped-from-the-headlines feel. Several acts had notable nights at the Grammy Awards. The reunited Beach Boys lineup of Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, Bruce Johnston and David Marks made their live debut at the awards, joined on stage by Foster the People.

Bon Iver won best new artist, Skrillex took home three trophies, and two-time Grammy winners The Civil Wars are scheduled to play just a few weeks before singer Joy Williams’ baby is due.

The Chili Peppers will play Bonnaroo as new Rock and Roll Hall of Fame members.

About half of the lineup was announced Tuesday, and additions will be made later. Bonnaroo will feature about 125 music acts and 30 comedians. Tickets go on sale Saturday.

Hefner’s son charged with domestic violence

PASADENA, Calif.

Authorities in Southern California say Hugh Hefner’s 21-year-old son has been arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic violence, and his girlfriend has sought an emergency restraining order.

Police and jail records say Marston Hefner was released from jail Monday after posting $20,000 bail.

Police in Pasadena, Calif., said in a statement that officers were called Sunday night to the apartment Marston Hefner shares with his girlfriend, and he was arrested after she was found with minor injuries.

The police statement didn’t name the woman, but Lt. Jari Faulkner tells the Pasadena Star-News that 20-year-old Claire Sinclair sought an emergency restraining order against Marston Hefner from police Monday.

Sinclair is the 2011 Playmate of the Year.

Bay plans fresh take for next ‘Transformers’

LOS ANGELES

Director Michael Bay plans a fresh take on shape-shifting robots with the fourth installment in his “Transformers” franchise.

Paramount Pictures announced Monday night that Bay will return to direct the next chapter in the blockbuster sci-fi series, due in theaters June 29, 2014.

Bay’s third movie based on the Hasbro toy line, “Transformers: Dark of the Moon,” came out last summer and took in $1.1 billion worldwide.

The studio’s announcement said the next “Transformers” will be a new take — which probably is necessary since star Shia LaBeouf said last summer that he would not return for a fourth movie.

Singer laughs off ‘19 Kids’ extortion plot

DAVENPORT, Iowa

A Branson, Mo., singer says he’s laughing off a photographer’s alleged attempt to extort the TLC reality show “19 Kids and Counting” by threatening to release photos of him with a cast member.

James Garrett told the Quad-City Times 24-year-old Amy Duggar occasionally performs in his shows, but they’ve never been alone together and aren’t having an affair. He says photos that photographer Teresa Hunt claimed were intimate were “totally benign” and weren’t taken by Hunt.

Investigators say Hunt threatened to release what she called compromising photos of Duggar and Garrett if she wasn’t paid $10,000. Her attorney declined to comment.

The reality show on TLC follows Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar and their 19 children. Amy Duggar is a cousin of the family.
