BREAKING NEWS: Arrest warrants issued for hazing of YSU students

YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown Police Department, in cooperation with Youngstown State University police and the city prosecutor's office today issued warrants against eight people on felonious assault charges involved with the recent hazing case involving two Youngstown State University students.

Each of these men were charged with two counts of felonious assault: Jason Anderson, 27, of Illinois Avenue; Trey McCune, 21, of Ohio Avenue; Edward Robertson, 28, of Catalina Avenue; Jerome Justice, 28, Tremble Avenue, Campbell; Michael Charles, 28, Illinois Avenue; Jairus Ford, 32, Greeley Lane; Lavell Sharp, 25, of Illinois Avenue; Wade Hampton, 24, of Deer Creek Court, Austintown.

Police said that on Feb. 2, the victim, Resean M. Yancey, 20, was hospitalized for serious injuries sustained over being hazed multiple times to join the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity.

During the investigation, detectives found out that Breylon Stubbs, 22, also was the victim of similar hazing episodes with the same fraternity.

The investigation continues and other potential subject(s) may be charged in the hazing incidents, police said. Of the eight individuals charged, only Trey McCune is an active student at YSU. The remaining seven subjects are former YSU students and currently involved with the local Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity, which has been suspended indefinitely by YSU officials.
