Accident at Fifth and Rayen sends two to hospital

YOUNGSTOWN

Authorities are on the scene of a two-car accident at the intersection of Fifth and Rayen avenues, near the campus of Youngstown State University, that sent two people to the hospital.

One car, a silver Chevrolet Impala, is wrapped around a telephone pole.

Authorities cut a victim out of the vehicle.

The driver of the second vehicle, a Dodge Charger, was also sent to the hospital but did not appear to be as seriously injured.

On a day when the city’s first responders are stretched thin due to a diesel tanker turnover on the 711 connector on ramp, Austintown police and fire are also on the scene to assist at the accident.
