YOUNGSTOWN

City police and two families are searching for two unrelated men who have not been seen or heard from in months.

Tyrone Roosevelt Davenport, 66, first was reported missing from his Plazaview Court apartment Jan. 17 by his 75-year-old wife. She said her husband was dropped off on Shehy Street on the East Side to do some work and had not been seen since that time.

Davenport’s 60-year-old sister, who lives in Pennsylvania, began inquiring about her brother earlier this week because she has not seen or heard from him since Thanksgiving.

The family expected Davenport to show up by the beginning of February because he was expecting to receive some money, but there still has been no sign of the man.

Davenport is described as a black male about 145 pounds, 5 feet 7 inches tall with a dark-brown complexion and gray hair that is kept in an Afro style. He also wears a full beard and mustache.

In a separate situation, police and the family of a 59-year-old homeless man well-known to law enforcement are concerned about his welfare because he has not been seen or heard from for an extended period of time.

Thomas Boddie, with a last-known address on Sherwood Avenue, could usually be seen in the downtown area, near the fast-food restaurants along Belmont Avenue, or on various parts of the South Side. Now, a cousin of the homeless man said he has not been seen around town, and he fears Boddie may be dead.

Boddie first made news in November 2010 when a witness said he had been attacked by a group of teens.

Boddie was reportedly beaten and hit with rocks by the group of teen boys in the Idora neighborhood on the city’s South Side. No charges were filed against the juveniles. Boddie received medical attention at a hospital.

That was not the first time officers found Boddie beaten. According to police reports, Boddie was found Oct. 16, 2010, passed out on the sidewalk near West Federal Street. Officers reported that he had a cut near his left ear with dried blood around the wound.

Boddie reportedly told officers he had been at a house near Covington Street when he was punched, kicked and pistol-whipped before walking downtown and passing out. He was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center and treated. No arrests were made in that incident.

Boddie has appeared in Youngstown Municipal Court several times on trespassing charges.

He is 6 feet tall, black and weighs about 170 pounds. He has grayish-black hair and a mustache.

Anyone with information on either man is asked to call police at 330-747-7911 or 330-746-CLUE (2583).
