Shannon Hians and Kevin Merrell, both of Youngstown, were united in marriage Nov. 5 at St. Columba Cathedral. The 2 p.m. ceremony was solemnized by the Rev. John Keehner. Before leaving on a wedding trip to Puerto Rico and the Caribbean, the couple received congratulations at a reception in their honor at The Georgetown in Boardman.
Mickey and Lori Hians are parents of the bride, and parents of the groom are Ray and Brenda Merrell, all of Youngstown.
The bride’s satin gown was styled with a lace overlay and sweetheart neckline. A taffeta band accented the empire waistline, and the scalloped hem and full-length train were embellished with crystals.
Bridal attendants were attired in merlot-colored dresses. Brittany Hians, the bride’s sister, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were the groom’s sister, Stephanie Merrell, and Heather Brake, Stacey Hoskins, Laura Revetti, Jessica Giordano and Sarah Baker. The flower girl was Ariana Reed.
Andy Bowell performed the duties of best man. Groomsmen were: Chris Merrell, the groom’s brother; Andrew Green, the groom’s cousin; and Lou Kopachy, Bryan Kopachy, Matt Hodge and Nick Reed. Kayden Reed served as the ring bearer.
Mrs. Merrell earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Youngstown State University. She is a registered nurse at St. Joseph Healthcare Center in Warren.
Mr. Merrell is a firefighter with the Youngstown Fire Department.
The couple are making their home in Cornersburg.
