POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Liberty, Girard and Hubbard:

LIBERTY

Feb. 1

Domestic violence: Police charged 39-year-old Tommie Carnathan, 120 Trumbull Ave., Liberty, with the crime after a family member alleged Carnathan had threatened to stab her with a knife and locked the accuser in a bedroom for about an hour.

Theft: An employee with an East Liberty Street motel reported the theft of a $558 deposit.

Arrest: Officers responded to a shoplifting situation at Dollar General in the Liberty Plaza, where they took into custody 23-year-old Greg S. Latronica, 4 Trumbull Court, Liberty. He was wanted on a warrant from Franklin County.

Drugs: Police on Goldie Road charged 24-year-old Alexandria S. Fetterolf, 321 Ridge Road, Newton Falls, with possession of drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia after saying a vehicle search turned up suspected drug contraband. Also arrested was Michael C. Joliff, 26, of 633 W. Third St., Niles, who was wanted on a warrant from that city charging him with receiving stolen property.

Feb. 2

Drugs: Authorities in the 2700 block of Belmont Avenue pulled over 51-year-old Donald B. Brown Jr., who faced a felony charge of cocaine possession. Brown, of 200 Wrenfield Drive, Hubbard, had a large rock of suspected crack cocaine, a report showed.

Feb. 3

Arrest: David McGuire, 29, of 132 S. Forest Ave., Youngstown, was wanted by township authorities on a charge of failing to appear in court.

Vandalism: A worker for ATC Healthcare Inc., 310 Church Hill-Hubbard Road, discovered two checks totaling $4,050 had been torn to pieces and tossed in a trash can.

Arrest: Boardman police apprehended 31-year-old Jesus D. Dehostos Jr., 64 W. Florida Ave., Youngstown, who was wanted on an outstanding township warrant.

Drugs: A traffic stop on Goldie Road led to the arrests of Melissa S. Mills, 27, and Shawn L. Paulin, 32, both of 410 Benton Road, Salem, on charges of possession of drug-abuse instruments and obstructing official business. Twelve or 13 syringes were found, police said.

Arrest: Girard police handed 28-year-old James E. Coudriet to township authorities. Coudriet, of 209 Church Hill Road, Liberty, was wanted on a warrant from Girard Municipal Court charging him with a probation violation.

Feb. 4

Drugs: Officers in the 3000 block of Belmont Avenue charged Trevon J. Johnson, 18, of 201 W. Chalmers Ave., Youngstown, and Gary A. Walker, 29, of 15 Indiana Ave., Youngstown, with marijuana possession. Authorities confiscated 20 grams of suspected marijuana from Walker and 5 grams from Johnson, a report said.

Assault/drugs: A theft at Walmart, 200 Goldie Road, led to the arrests of Jessica I. Taylor, 29, of 346 Dehoff Drive, Austintown, on charges of assault and possession of drug paraphernalia; Jay J. Cave, 37, of 1957 Donald Ave., Youngstown, on a warrant; and Conrad J. Yakovich, 32, also of 1957 Donald, on a charge of complicity to theft. Found were a syringe, 0.5 grams of suspected heroin and a suspected crack pipe, police said. In addition, Taylor resisted store personnel who tried to detain her, the report showed.

Feb. 5

Arrest: Michael R. Alston of 3022 North Gate Road, Liberty, was picked up on Belmont Avenue on a warrant from Payne County, Okla., charging him with burglary.

Feb. 6

Arrest: Ohio State Highway Patrol handed 36-year-old Melvin Powell Jr. of Akron to township authorities; Powell was wanted on a probation-violation charge.

GIRARD

Feb. 1

Burglary: To a residence in the 500 block of Washington Avenue. Items were strewn about in two bedrooms.

Criminal damaging: Two juveniles in the 100 block of West Broadway Avenue reportedly threw rocks at school buses, one of which was found with dents and scratches.

Vehicular assault: A man alleged a North Highland Avenue man intentionally struck him with a vehicle in what witnesses described as an unprovoked attack. The accuser didn’t appear to be seriously hurt, though he sought medical attention for his injuries, a report said.

Feb. 2

Theft: A laptop computer and hard drive were stolen from a vehicle in the 400 block of Elruth Court.

Criminal mischief: Someone tossed a doughnut at a car in the 500 block of North Avenue.

Criminal damaging: A piece of wood was missing from, and pry marks were on, a door to an apartment in the 900 block of Patricia Drive that someone had tried to enter.

Breaking and entering: Someone broke into a home in the 100 block of North Lorain Avenue before taking a computer and related accessories.

Feb. 3

Misuse of a credit card: A North Highland Avenue woman found out her debit card had been used to make a $413 fraudulent online charge.

Harassment: An East Liberty Street woman told police she received harassing and potentially threatening calls.

Theft: Police issued a summons charging James E. Coudriet, 28, of 209 Church Hill Road, Liberty, in the theft of makeup from Dollar General, 501 Church Hill.

Burglary: Occurred in the 500 block of Park Avenue. Stolen from a bedroom was a $1,500 gold wedding band.

Feb. 4

Criminal damaging: A vehicle in the 400 block of Elruth Court was found with damage to a driver’s-side door and window, possibly done with a cinder block.

Menacing: An East Broadway Avenue man reported getting threatening text and voice messages regarding money owed.

Harassment: An East Liberty Street woman said she received 40 to 50 hang-up calls.

HUBBARD

Feb. 4

Criminal damaging: Property damage was reported in the 3000 block of Lewis-Seifert Road.

Feb. 5

Menacing: A customer reported having been threatened at a North Main Street fast-food restaurant.

Drugs: Police charged 19-year-old Douglas E. Thorpe, 250 Viola Ave., Hubbard, with one count of drug possession.

Feb. 6

Criminal damaging: A resident in the 6000 block of West Liberty Street reported property damage.

Feb. 7

Theft: Took place at Love’s Travel Shop, 2566 N. Main St.
