Distinguished Young Women competition announced

MOUNT VERNON, OHIO

The Distinguished Young Women Scholarship Program, formerly Ohio Junior Miss, will be Feb. 24 and 25. This year’s program will be Ohio’s 54th anniversary and the first year for the program’s new name and brand image: Distinguished Young Women — Scholarship, Leadership, Talent. Alana Lesnansky will represent Northern Mahoning County, competing with 24 Ohio high school seniors. Cash scholarships totaling $18,500 will be awarded, and the national finals will be in Mobile, Ala. in June. The show starts at 8 p.m. on Friday and at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
