Pa. teacher accused of using insulting names toward students
SALISBURY, Pa. (AP) — School board members and administrators say they’re still investigating whether a teacher called her eighth- and ninth-grade algebra students names like “retard,” “idiot” and “moron.”
But officials in the Salisbury-Elk Lick School District aren’t saying whether the teacher has been suspended or will be disciplined. Superintendent Joseph Renzi tells the Daily American of Somerset that the teacher is “being cooperative” with the ongoing investigation.
The issue was first raised when some parents came to a school board meeting to complain Feb. 1.
Some parents returned hoping for answers at Wednesday night’s meeting, but were told only that the teacher remains employed and that the district continues to investigate their complaints.
