Manufacturers group sets meeting

CANFIELD

The Mahoning Valley Manufacturing Coalition will host a meeting for manufacturers interested in joining the coalition.

The meeting will be from 7:30 to 8:15 p.m. Feb. 17 at the Mahoning County Career & Technical Center, 7300 N. Palmyra Road.

The coalition is a group of manufacturing-based organizations that have come together and pooled their resources in an effort to publicize the need for skilled-trade workers.

“We are very interested in rounding out our membership to include all sectors in manufacturing,” added Jessica Borza, executive director of MVMC. “I’m telling manufacturers, ‘Now is the time to make your voice heard.’ We are at an exciting point, and are poised to make a real difference in addressing work-force shortages.”

Time Warner Cable will host a career fair from 2 to 6 p.m. today at the The Crowne Plaza Hotel- Cleveland South, 5300 Rockside Road, Independence.

The company is looking to hire sales professionals for full-time positions.

U.S. News: Cruze is best compact

LORDSTOWN

The Lordstown-built Chevrolet Cruze recently was named “Best Compact Car for the Money” by U.S. News and World Report.

U.S. News noted that the Cruze has “great fuel economy, roomy cabin and upscale feel for the price.”

The vehicles are ranked by the best combination of praise from car reviewers, the lowest up-front cost and lower long-term ownership costs than their competition.

Tattoo, piercing shop to open downtown

YOUNGSTOWN

One week after the opening of two downtown businesses, a third will open later this week.

Blue Magic Tattoos and Piercing, on West Federal Street next to the Draught House, will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4 p.m. Friday.

Tim Adair, owner and operator, is a former Mahoning County deputy sheriff.

In honor of the opening, the tattoo shop will offer a 25 percent discount for all work during the first week.

The shop will be open noon to midnight every day.
