Mathews board to select treasurer

VIENNA

The Mathews school board has rescheduled its selection of the new treasurer to 6 p.m. today. A vote had been scheduled for Monday evening; however, Superintendent Lewis Lowery said board members wanted more time to review applications from the nine candidates. Current treasurer Teri Andrika retires at the end of this month.

Lowery said that after the vote, the board will complete its interviews of the 11 applicants for the board seat vacated by Brian Stidham. The position must be filled by Friday, which is 30 days from the time Stidham submitted his resignation.
