Trumbull Co. tax-bill glitch reported
WARREN — A “glitch” in new computer software caused 1,600 real estate tax bills to go out in the mail last week with incorrect information on them.
The mistake affected property owners who elected to have someone designated as beneficiary in the event of the death of the property owner.
In the case of the 1,600 bills, the name Joe Bobbie erroneously showed up under the names of the correct beneficiaries.
But Adrian Biviano, Trumbull County auditor, said the incorrect name only showed up on the bills and is not on the deed or any other document, and the erroneous bills have been fixed and mailed a second time.
“Why it picked [the name] up, nobody knows,” Biviano said. “The software company is checking to make sure it doesn’t happen again.”
The county mailed most of its 142,000 tax bills in the middle of last week.
