Police seek man who tried to rob W. Pa. doctor

MCMURRAY, Pa. (AP) — Police are searching for a man who tried and failed to rob a southwestern Pennsylvania doctor and his medical practice.

Peters Township police say the incident happened just before 6 p.m. Monday at the offices of Dr. Oliver Herndon in Waterdam Plaza.

Police say the armed man entered the office and held a gun to a female employee’s back and told her to be quiet while he demanded money. Instead, she screamed and began crying which Dr.Herndon overheard prompting him to confront the man who then demanded money from the doctor.

The doctor told the man the office had no money because that day’s cash had already been taken to the bank, so the man ran away.

Police say a vehicle like one driven by the suspect was seen at a nearby coffee shop, but they’ve made no arrests.
