DeLuca show off the air in Canton
CANTON
The DeLuca Show’s reign at local radio station WDJQ-FM has ended, the show’s hosts said in a statement Monday.
Patrick DeLuca and Charlotte DiFranco said they had been in discussions with the station about growing the show’s presence in other markets, but said it is “clear that station management does not share our vision for the future.”
The show, which for the past six years became known for discussing topics that most contemporary hit music stations shy away from — abortion, child support, marijuana legalization and fracking — had been off-air since Thursday as it attempted to work toward a new contract.
The DeLuca Show was the top-rated morning show in the Canton market.
John Stewart, WDJQ program director, did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment.
WDJQ, branded as “Today’s Hit Music Q92,” is a contemporary hit music station heard in both the Canton and Youngstown markets.
