With all eyes on New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning in today’s Super Bowl against the New

With all eyes on New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning in today’s Super Bowl against the New England Patriots, we offer this list of five other notable TV Elis.

v Eli David (Michael Nouri, “NCIS”): The head of Israel’s Mossad and father of NCIS agent Ziva David (Cote de Pablo).

v Eli Gold (Alan Cumming, “The Good Wife”): Tough-talking political consultant said to be modeled on Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

v Eli James (Jamie Kennedy, “Ghost Whisperer”): Professor who had a near-death experience and, as a result, became able to hear ghosts.

v Eli Stone (Jonny Lee Miller, “Eli Stone”): Quirky lawyer who was the title character of the 2008-09 ABC dramedy.

v Eli Thompson (Shea Whigham, “Boardwalk Empire”): Sheriff of Atlantic County who turns against his power-broker brother Nucky (Steve Buscemi).

“puppy bowl viii” (3 p.m., animal planet): Like every other great institution, “Puppy Bowl VIII” is embracing social media. This year a bird will provide live tweets of all the adorable, tail-wagging action on the mini gridiron.

Super Bowl XLVI (6 p.m., nbc): Are you ready for some football? It’s America’s day of gridiron gluttony — when something like a gazillion viewers tune in to see big, sweaty men frolic on plastic grass. But even if you don’t have your head in the game, there are plenty of things to watch besides the New England Patriots and New York Giants. Highlights include all those wacky, high-priced commercials and the halftime festivities with Madonna rocking Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

“the voice” (approximately 10 p.m., after the Super Bowl): The goofy swiveling chairs are back as “The Voice” renews its effort to find America’s next great crooner. But what we really can’t wait to see is Monday night’s medley of Prince songs performed by the show’s judges, Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green and Blake Shelton.

‘Phantom’ sequel coming to theaters

NEW YORK

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s sequel to “The Phantom of the Opera” was called “Love Never Dies.” Defying its title, it had a short life. Now he hopes it can be resurrected. The composer helped rework the musical for a stage production currently in Australia, and anyone unable to go Down Under will have a chance to see it when a filmed version hits movie theaters this month. Lloyd Webber hopes the movie — available at hundreds of cinemas across the U.S. on Feb. 28 and March 7 — will spark new interest.
