Austintown Senior Center, 100 Westchester Drive, has planned the following: Monday, Walking Club at 9 a.m., blood pressure checks and painting class ($5) at 9:30, bingo and Ask the Social Worker at 10, lunch at 11:30 and computer practice at noon; Tuesday, intermediate computer classes at 9:30 a.m., Vets Helping Vets and line dancing at 10, bridge club at 10:30, lunch at 11:30 and bingo at noon; Wednesday, Walking Club at 9 a.m., bingo at 10, lunch at 11:30 and movie matinee, “Courageous,” at noon; Thursday, Yoga at 9 a.m., open exercise and Wii bowling at 9:30, lunch at 11:30 and bingo at noon; and Friday, Walking Club at 9 a.m., bingo and discussion group at 10, lunch at 11:30 and open exercise and Wii bass fishing at noon. Guardian Angels of Ohio, a volunteer guardianship program of Trumbull County Probate Court, is looking for new volunteers. The next monthly meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Perkins Family Restaurant, 1953 Niles-Cortland Road SE. Angels reach out in friendship to people who are elderly and alone in Trumbull County by providing trained, qualified volunteers to serve as advocates. Angels also are involved in planning special events for seniors, such as health fairs and Make a Difference Day projects. The Meadows at Covington, 200 Covington Drive, East Palestine, will host a program, “Activities That Can Keep You Healthy and in Shape.” It will take place from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Feb. 15. Michelle Hawkins of Senior Independence will demonstrate and discuss the benefits of various types of exercise for older adults. The program is free, and a continental breakfast will be available. Niles SCOPE Senior Center, 14 E. State St., is continuing its Lunch ’n Learn series. This month’s program is “A Fresh Perspective on Retirement.” The older-citizen population is living longer; more than 20 years could be spent in retirement. It’s important to determine if there will be enough money to support your retirement needs. Learn about the factors that may affect your retirement and strategies to build income. Jon Cleary, financial adviser with Morgan Stanley/Smith Barney will present the program beginning at 11:30 a.m. Feb. 23 at the center. Lunch will be served at 11:30, and the presentation will follow at noon. A $1 donation is requested. SCOPE members and nonmembers are welcome.
