The closing Mass at Our Lady of Hungary Church, 545 N. Belle Vista Ave., will be at 12:30 p.m. Feb. 12 with celebrants, Bishop George V. Murry of the Diocese of Youngstown and the Rev. Joseph Rudjak, pastor.
A memorial dinner will follow. Reservations are due by Thursday by calling the church office at 330-743-1905; the cost is $5.
Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 421 Covington St.; St. Stephen of Hungary, 854 Wilson Ave.; and Our Lady of Hungary have merged with the new name Holy Apostle Parish. Sts. Peter and Paul and St. Stephen are worship sites; Our Lady is closing.
Submit Lenten services, activities
Lent, a season of spiritual renewal, begins Ash Wednesday, Feb. 22. Forty days is a traditional number of discipline, devotion and preparation in the Bible.
Lent also lasts for 40 days, excluding Sundays.

Prayer breakfast

The Men of Valor prayer breakfast is planned at 9 a.m. Feb. 25 at Union Baptist Church, 528 Lincoln Ave., and will feature guest speaker Bishop Jesse Gavin of the Greater Calvary Full Gospel Baptist Church in Erie, Pa.
Ticket donation is $10. Tickets may be obtained by calling the church office at 330-746-1217. Tickets must be bought by Feb. 17.

The Gregory Mission of Greater Friendship Baptist Church, 646 Lakewood Ave., will celebrate its Missions Annual Day at noon Feb. 13.
Guest speaker will be Jacquelyn Burley, director of Protestant Family Service.

VBS workshops
Lion and Lamb Christian Resources, Salem and Niles, will host vacation Bible school workshops at two locations next weekend.

Annual dinner meeting planned

New Bethel Baptist Church, 1507 Hillman St., will have its annual dinner meeting at 3 p.m. Feb. 12 at the Brentford House, 747 Myron St.
Speaker will be the Rev. Bruce Lauren of Cleveland.
Cost is $13 for adults; reservation deadline is Sunday.
The church recently adopted its 2012 budget of $637,790; $376,250 is for the general fund; $79,200 for benevolences and missions; and $182,500 for building fund and improvements.
The 2012 elected officers are Michael Lyons, deacon board chairman; Mary Ann Mitchell, deaconess board chairman; Julius Livas, trustee board chairman; Ike Henry, general treasurer; Ketuan Baldwin, financial secretary; Michael Lyons, Christian education director; Lois York, church school superintendent; Juanita Davis, church clerk; and Reuben Gordon, benevolent treasurer.

White Mass

Bishop George V. Murry will be the main celebrant and homilist for the 16th annual White Mass at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 12 at St. Columba Cathedral, 154 W. Wood St.
A brunch reception will follow in St. Columba Hall for members of the Lourdes Guild.
The White Mass is sponsored by the Lourdes Guild, an association of Catholic physicians and dentists of the Diocese of Youngstown.
The guild assists the diocesan Church in upholding and communicating Catholic medical ethics.
