Boardman boys start indoor track season
The Boardman boys indoor track team competed in its first meet of the season on Jan. 21 at Kent State University.
Highlighting the Spartans success was junior Nathan Jones, who finished 10th in the 200-meter dash in 23.69 and sixth in the 60-meter dash in a time of 7.18.
Also in the 60-meter dash was senior Ricky Williams placing 14th in a time of 7.40 and sixth in the 200 meters at 23.44.
Junior Peter Stafford placed fifth in the 3200-meter run with a time of 11:00. The 4x800 meter relay team of sophomore Alan Burns, freshman Juan Santiago, sophomore Justin Maroni and junior Sam Sheronovich placed third with a time of 8:57, while the second 4x800 meter relay team of junior Ryan Key, Stafford, sophomore Trevor Leyden and freshman Kostas Kasamias placed eighth.
In the 1600-meter run, Santiago placed eighth overall with a time of 5:00, while Burns was 13th with a time of 5:04 and Maroni 14th with a time of 5:07. In the 400-meter dash, senior Michael Moxley was 14th overall in a time of 55.15, followed by sophomore Ivan Adu-Poku in 15th place with a time of 55.22.
Sheronovich finished seventh overall in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:10. In the shot put, senior John Kuczek was fifth overall with a throw of 44-1 and classmate Darien Williams was eighth with a throw of 40-0.
