McDonald Council appoints new council member

MCDONALD — Village officials have selected a new councilman to fill the unexpired term of a council member who was forced to step down because of illness.

Before their meeting Wednesday, officials swore in Glen “Marty” Puckett to replace Peter D. Sudol, who resigned Tuesday and continues to fight a nearly two-year battle against cancer.

Sudol served on council’s parks and buildings, safety and finance committees. In addition, he spent about two years as council’s president pro tempore, which entailed chairing the village’s board of zoning appeals.

Before obtaining his seat, Sudol served about two years as the village’s building inspector.
