Cookie cookbook to benefit hospital
BOARDMAN
“Hugs and Kisses, Hopes and Wishes,” a new cookie cookbook, will benefit Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley.
The cookbook, which will feature hundreds of recipes, is being created as a fundraising project of the Kids’ Crew of Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley. Proceeds will benefit the hospital’s programs and services.
Recipes are being accepted and may be submitted by using the form found on the website at www.akronchildrens.org/cms/event/8763b075febb4c49/index.html or by calling 330-746-8712. The deadline is Feb. 29. Patron listings and cookbook sponsors also are being accepted.
Also to be included in the book are recipes resulting from a contest that took place at a book launch party Jan. 29. The winners follow:
First Place: Marshmallow Chocolate Brownies, baked by Sharon Carnivale of Austintown.
Second Place: White Chocolate Raspberry Bars, baked by Lynn Walker of Boardman.
Third Place: Turtle Cookie Bars, baked by Elena Rossi of Boardman.
Judges were Merv and Marlene Hollander of Weathertite Windows, Nena Perkins of The Vindicator, and Lauren Lindvig and Mike Case of WFMJ-TV21.
The first limited edition of the cookbook will be available in April and feature favorite cookie recipes from staff, patients’ families and the public. Each book will sell for $20, and presale orders are being accepted on the website.
