Township residents can now place one bulk size item at their curb for pickup once a month at no extra cost. Township officials said the large items will no longer require a sticker for pickup. Also, Giant Eagle on Belmont Avenue will sell garbage bags for customers who have limited trash pickup allowances.

Sobriety checkpoint

The Mahoning County Operating a Vehicle Impaired Task Force will conduct a sobriety checkpoint in Mahoning County today. The specific location was not provided in a press release from the task force.

Canfield Assistant Police Chief Scott Weamer said officers would be conducting the roadside checks for drivers with alcohol and drug impairment and saturation patrols would be conducted throughout the weekend.
