Winter prayer

Villa Maria Spirituality and Education Center will continue its morning seminars, Coffee & Contemplation series, with “Contemplative Winter Prayer” from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Jan. 8.
Sister Barbara O’Donnell will be the presenter.

Ukrainian carols
austintown
St. Anne’s Ukrainian Catholic Church Byzantine Rite, 3055 S. Raccoon Road, will host a free concert of traditional Ukrainian Christmas carols at 3 p.m. Sunday.
The carols, known as “koliadky,” will be performed by the Ukrainian Cultural Trust Choir of Western Pennsylvania.
The choir is comprised of singers from various acappella church choirs from the greater Pittsburgh area and has been together for 21 years.

In the Ukrainian Christmas tradition, for Byzantine Catholic and Eastern Orthodox, Christmas carols were not sung before Christmas Day. The start of the Christmas celebration began at the appearance of the first star on Christmas Eve and caroling continued to Epiphany.
Watch Night

Watch Night services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday at Triedstone Missionary Baptist Church, 2045 Jacobs Road.
