Hubbard bowling teams sweep Zitnik Memorial titles

The Hubbard High boys and girls bowling teams won their respective divisions of the sixth annual Ed Zitnik Memorial tournament at Bell-Wick Bowl on Friday.
In both cases, Hubbard had the top qualifying score before advancing to the finals round.
After rolling 2,821 in qualifying, all pins were dropped and Hubbard’s two Baker games totaled 1982, followed by Kenston (1860), Maplewood (1813), McDonald (1722), Harding (1662) and Liberty (1634).
Top individuals for Hubbard were Jacob Runion and Mitch Cohol with 231s, Harding’s Tyler Longwell (243) and Ronald Davis (225), Maplewood’s Mark McCloskey (222), McDonald’s Joe Woodley (224) and Liberty’s Michael Bryant (256) and Allen Bentz (231).
Other participating teams were Ursuline, Girard and Howland.
After Hubbard’s girls had the top qualifying score of 2675, the Eagles won with two Baker games totaling 1877, runnerup Girard 1619, third-place Harding (1477), Howland (1429) and Liberty (1250).
Brittany Ferrara rolled 257, Sarah Wise 213 and Jenna Wise 202 for the Zitnik champs, while Girard’s Casie Cupan had 199.
Harding’s Stacey Tucker’s high game was 236, Howland’s Hannah Vandergrift registered 215 and Liberty’s Marissa Simon had 259.
