East overwhelms Sharon; Ursuline wins Potter Classic

Taylor Johnson netted 25 points and made four steals to lead the Panthers (6-1) at the Farrell Tournament. Deontay Scott contributed 16 points and 11 rebounds while Jamir Humphrey scored 12 points and pulled down seven rebounds. Marquis Cotton scored 10 points. For Sharon (3-3), Khalil Hopson scored 22 points and made seven rebounds while Mark Henry and Darrell Stovall each scored 11 points. Stovall also made 13 rebounds.

Ursuline 58, East Liverpool 44

EAST LIVERPOOL

Desmond McElroy scored 27 points as the Irish (2-6) won the East Liverpool Potter Holiday Classic. Ryan Strollo scored 15 points and was named the tournament’s most valuable player. McElroy also named to the all-tournament team. For the Potters (3-8), Hayden Cunningham scored 14 points. Derek Thompson had 13 points and 12 rebounds while Kade Reynolds scored 10 points.

Beaver Local 34, Struthers 32

Z. Mick’s 10 points were tops for the winners (6-3, 1-2 All-American Conference American Division) while Tameka Holness had 11 points for the Wildcats (3-6, 1-2).

Girard 79, Jefferson 75

JEFFERSON

Craig Randall scored 41 points, including a 20-of-25 effort at the foul line, as the Indians (4-3, 2-1 AAC National Division) outlasted the Falcons (2-4, 0-2). Jim Standohar added 15 points for Girard, which took control with a 32-point third quarter. Evan Standohar added eight points and 10 rebounds. Troy Bloom led Jefferson with 21 points, including five 3-pointers, Lucas Hitchcock and David Chase added 15 points each and Brett Powers scored 11.

Liberty 55, Lakeview 51

LIBERTY

Asim Pleas led a balanced Leopards attack with 13 points and Liberty took control with a 20-13 third-quarter edge. Cameron Clark added 12 points and D.J. Hight and Darrien Underwood each had 10 for the Leopards (5-3, 2-1 AAC National). Pleas led Liberty with eight rebounds. Jake Pishotti led the Bulldogs (1-6, 0-2) with 13 points, Brandon Bensing added 12 points and six rebounds and Erich Schmitt had 10 points. Champion 50, Campbell 42

CHAMPION

Clay Hall had 32 points on the strength of 10 goals and nine of 10 free throws. Campbell (2-7, 1-2 AAC National) led after three quarters, 36-34, but then the Red Devils were outscored in the final eight minutes, 16-6. Campbell’s Jayle °ll Shorter had 13 points.

Lowellville 55, Badger 48

LOWELLVILLE

Nick Ballone scored 19 points to lead the Rockets (5-3). Pat Mangine scored 13 points and Paulo Depasquale had 12. For the Braves (2-5), Brandon Bates led with 17 points while Matt Kraml had 16.

Youngstown Christian 75, Lisbon 53

YOUNGSTOWN

Kaevon Green led the Eagles (3-1) with 13 points. Daylen Williams scored 10 points and Seth McMillen hit three 3-pointers for nine. For the Blue Devils (4-4), Austin Rutecki and Matt Spencer each had 11 points.

Robert Logan scored 22 points while Derek Bable and Collin Gilbert each netted 11 for the Rebels (4-4). Crestview outscored Heartland Christian 42-23 in the second half. For Heartland (4-2), Jared Robinson led with 10 points.

West Branch 56, Western Reserve 42

BELOIT

Kip DeShields had 12 points, and Dustin Greenawalt 11 and Jacob Griffith had 11 apiece for West Branch (2-6). Dalton Korda’s 14 points led Western Reserve (2-6).

Aaron Suchanek scored 32 points to lead the Mustangs (3-4). Andy Morgan netted 20 points while Wyatt Ford had 14. Also reaching double figures were Tommy Sharp with 12 and Cobie Pratt with 10. For the Rams (5-3), Corey Phillips led with 22, followed by Zac Hagy with 21. Nathan Palmer contributed 15 points and Brandon Perkins 10.

Junior guards Preston Sutton and Jake Jones had 15 and 13 points, respectively, for the Red Devils (3-6), who led at the half, 27-9.

Jake McAdams’ 12 points paced Jackson-Milton (1-7).

Tony Shivers scored nine of his career-high 26 points in the fourth quarter as the Quakers (7-0, 4-0 Northeastern Buckeye Conference) used a 22-11 surge to stay unbeaten.
