Toledo firefighters pull man, dog from burning house


TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — Firefighters in Toledo say they rescued a man in his 80s and a dog from a burning home overnight.

Crews were called to the home in north Toledo at about 2 a.m. today to find the house filled with smoke from a fire that likely started in the basement.

WTOL-TV reports the resident was unconscious when he was pulled from the home. He was taken to a hospital where family members say he is on a ventilator in critical condition.

Firefighters were able to revive a dog that was unconscious when found in the home. The animal is expected to be OK.
