Poland swim teams split against Alliance


Poland High School swimming and diving team kicked off the season with a split match against Alliance. Poland girls won on the road 91-72 and the boys lost 86-69.

Maddie Evans led the girls team with four first-place wins. She claimed the women’s 200 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 100 free relay and 200 free relay. Jaci Mullally earned wins in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, and 100 free relay. Kaelyn Weitzman took first-place in the 100 butterfly and the 200 free relay, and second-place in the 100 backstroke.

Madeline Landry scored first-place finishes in the 500 freestyle and the 200 free relay with a third-place finish in the 100 breaststroke. Celia Malillo placed first in the 100 free relay with second-place finishes in the 200 individual medley and the 100 breaststroke. Marissa Malillo claimed first in both the 100 and 200 free relays and Maria Moschella placed second in the 100 butterfly.

The boys team was led by Matt Robich with two first-place finishes in the 50 and 500 freestyle and a second-place finish in the 100 backstroke. Matt Misko followed with wins in the 200 individual medley and the 100 breaststroke. Sam Cowles had second-place finishes in the 200 freestyle and the 100 butterfly. Anthony Lattanzio claimed a second-place finish in the 100 breaststroke and a third-place finish in the 100 freestyle. David Robich placed second in the 50 freestyle.

The 2012-2013 Poland Seminary High School swim team has 18 swimmers — 11 girls and seven boys.
