Las Vegas truck driver seeks bond reduction in Club 76 crash

YOUNGSTOWN

A defense lawyer has asked for a reduction in the $2.5 million bond for a 45-year-old truck driver from Las Vegas who was jailed after he reportedly drove his tractor-trailer rig into the back of Club 76 in Austintown on Nov. 24.

Suren Aramyan was charged with felonious assault and vandalism, but his lawyer, Rhys B. Cartwright-Jones, said nobody was hurt, and the driver and the club are insured for structural damage. The prosecution seeks forfeiture of the rig.

Aramyan owns his home and trucking business and has no previous felony history and no history of flight or non-appearance in court, Cartwright-Jones said in his motion for bond reduction.

The high bond had been set in Austintown court, where Aramyan made his initial appearance.

A bond-reduction hearing will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday before Judge Lou A. D’Apolito of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.
